I have worked for over a year in the Computer Vision Lab in my home university and this year I was thinking about participating in GSOC. Looking for organizations from this field who participated in previous years, I found PCL.
I have already used it for depth image handling in some lab projects and found it very well built and efficient.
It would be great to work with PCL on GSOC this year.
I've never participated in a GSOC, it would be interesting, though my level of knowledge is not enough to invent a new descriptor or filter or something like that. Maybe a QT application for PCL? Anyway, I hope you get accepted and something interesting comes out of it.
Unfortunately this is the answer we got from Google. Thanks a lot for your help, and enjoy your summer!
We had almost 420 applications this year and were only able to accept 137 orgs (less than 1/3) so we had to say no to many orgs. Because you have participated 3 times in the last 4 years we didn't think it would be a hardship to take a year off. This is the primary reason you were rejected. We do hope you will apply again in the future.
