PCL trunk PPA

VictorL
Hi,

I'm trying to use continuous integration for ROS projects that uses VTK/PCL.
I need PCL trunk for those projects but cannot afford to build PCL because it takes too much time (I reduced the build to the minimal modules I need).

Is there a way we can set up a pcl-trunk PPA?
What does it take?

Bye

Re: PCL trunk PPA

keven
Try using make -j <# processors>

That will speed up compilation.

We used to have that a long time ago:

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~openperception/+junk/pcl-trunk-debian/files/head:/debian/

Basically you would need to adopt that to the current debian files from
here:

http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/debian-science/packages/pcl.git

If you want to work on it, I could add you to the team on launchpad and
help with it. Would be great to have it back!

Cheers Jochen

Re: PCL trunk PPA

VictorL

Hey,

I made things work using CPack and creating a Zip archive. Of course this does not resolve any dependencies so you have to make sure everything is installed properly before compiling/running against PCL.

In my case I needed to compile against a specific version of VTK so Pcl is compiled against this VTK version

For more information take a look at here :
https://github.com/InstitutMaupertuis/advanced_industrial_ci/blob/indigo-devel/README.md

It contains a full example of a ROS package containing a PCL 1.8 node.

Bye
